Antique 'Safety Seal' Wide Mouth Aqua Blue Glass Jar - 2 Pint Capacity - 'Lightning' Metal Hinge Clasp - Made In Canada - Sold Separately. Would look excellent as a decor piece in a farmhouse kitchen.
The aqua blue colour is due to the minerals in the unique sand blend that they obtained for these mason jars. The aqua-blue colour often predates these jars as being produced in the 1920s and prior, as they quickly ran out of the unique sand blend. The 'Lightning' Clasp jar was also named due to its quick release over the more commonly used zinc metal jar lids. Often these zinc jar lids corroded and were difficult to release. Thus, the introduction of this 'new' lightning lid came about.
Safety Seal Made In Canada is embossed with a raised font. These jars are imperfectly perfect vintage/used condition. Metal hinges show an aged metal patina. For specific condition descriptions please see below. Please see all photos.
'D' Jar:
Metal hinge shows aged metal patina. Two small chips on the lower ridge. No mould number can be seen on the bottom.
'E' Jar:
Two rub marks on the top of the lid. Metal hinge shows aged metal patina. Two flea bites on the top of the jar lip and one larger. One larger chip out of the lower ridge line. No mould number can be seen on the bottom.
'F' Jar:
Metal hinge shows aged metal patina. Several larger chips out of the exterior lower lip, the bottom of the lid and interior of the lip. No mould number can be seen on the bottom.
